I have recently acquired a Lenovo Thinkpad P14s Gen 5. As of the time of writing
– summer of ‘24 – these machines are brand new, and so is their architecture:
Intel Core Ultra (Meteor Lake) with a dedicated NVIDIA GPU. Here I report my
experience with running Linux with the KDE Plasma desktop on this machine.
Another thing you can try to enhance battery life - if you don’t need the dGPU while on the go, get envycontrol and switch to integrated mode. I’ve got a P14s G5 w/ RTX 500 ada - not currently running Fedora (on a Debian variant) - but when I was on Fedora, I have to say I got much better battery life than the distro I’m using now (unfortunately the VPN software I need isn’t playing nice with Fedora right now )
